the most perfect

December 8, 2008

i believe that you can tell a lot about a person from the music they listen to.  i just created a playlist entitled “the most perfect”.  it is a compilation of 40 songs that i absolutely love, and that have the power to transform my mood in a million different ways.  some are happy dance-your-pants off songs, some make me cry, some make me remember blissful times, some are just well written and plain ol’ beautiful.  i included only one song per artist, which was hard because i have dozens, or even hundreds in one case, of songs by some of these artists so i had to choose my very favorite, most perfect song.

here they are….it’s a very eclectic collection, but i highly recommend all of them.

the time of times – badly drawn boy; shelter from the storm – bob dylan; radio nowhere – bruce springsteen; pitan pitan – carlos vives; two step (live) – DMB; romeo and juliet – dire straits; pitseleh – elliott smith; can’t help falling in love – elvis presley; red dirt girl – emmylou harris; touch of grey – grateful dead; proud mary – ike and tina turner; somewhere over the rainbow – iz; sometimes – james; you can close your eyes – james taylor; hallelujah – jeff buckley; take me home, country roads – john denver; ring of fire – johnny cash; o holy night – josh groban; don’t stop believin’ – journey; jesus walks – kanye west; lovestoned – justin timberlake; what a wonderful world – louis armstrong; if i had a boat – lyle lovett; brother love’s traveling salvation show – neil diamond; smells like teen spirit – nirvana; don’t know why – norah jones; won’t be home – old 97s; hey ya – outkast; graceland – paul simon; at my most beautiful – REM; empty – ray lamontagne; fireflies – rhett miller; unchained melody – the righteous brothers; beast of burden – the rolling stones; send me on my way – rusted root; the boxer – simon and garfunkel; in a little while – U2; you were always on my mind – willie nelson

Based on your selections of Kanye, Norah, Lyle Lovett, Jeff Buckley, and s+g-funkel, I think we’d be friends in real life.

I am 110% in the camp that you can tell a lot about someone from their music. And clearly, based on your musical selections, you are practically perfect in every way. I seriously can’t believe how many of these would be on my list too.
